Chinese electric carmaker BYD has recently announced that the company has crossed a new milestone by rolling out its 7 millionth NEV (new energy vehicle). The vehicle rolling off the production line to mark this new landmark was the DENZA N7.
According to the company BYD is the first global automaker to achieve this feat. It also is currently the biggest global EV manufacturer in the world, it dethroned Tesla to become the number one EV manufacturer in the world. BYD’s global success is a case study in itself, the company has an impressive growth trajectory, it reached the 1 million NEV mark in May 2021 and subsequently tripled its production within 18 months. BYD's remarkable pace continued as it surpassed 5 million units and reached the 7 million milestone in just seven months.
In 2023, BYD solidified its position as a global leader in NEV sales, with annual sales totaling 3.02 million units. The company's success extended beyond Chinese domestic markets, experiencing substantial global growth in new energy passenger car sales, making it the top NEV manufacturer in 2023.
BYD has operations spanning across 64 countries and it has strategically invested in manufacturing facilities worldwide, including in Thailand, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Hungary. This expansion underscores the company's commitment to catering to international markets and meeting growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
BYD recently launched the Seal electric car in the Indian market and it too was very well received in the Indian market. The Seal bagged 200 bookings on Day one and it has garnered over 500 bookings in the Indian market in just 15 days of its launch. BYD launched the Seal EV in the Indian market in an ex-showroom price range of Rs 41 to 51 lakh.
